First Visit

The building blocks for managing your pet's chronic condition

Thank you for choosing PetDerm

PetDerm’s team will ensure you and your pet receive the best care possible during your first visit. Our appointments typically last upwards of 60 minutes, as we take the time to thoroughly understand your pet’s medical history, examination and diagnostic to create a personalized management plan. The first appointment can be pivotal for your pet’s health, please ensure the primary care giver for your pet is present for this consultation.

Preparing for the Appointment

We ask for a patient to complete an Intake Form two weeks prior to your appointment to provide the PetDerm team with the most up-to-date picture of your pet’s health. If you are not able to complete the intake form prior to your appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early to complete it.

Your timely arrival helps us stay on schedule and minimizes wait times for all our clients. We truly appreciate your cooperation!

What to Expect During the Consultation

Our veterinary specialist will review any medical records provided by your family veterinarian, along with the history of your pet’s condition from your perspective. After a thorough examination and basic diagnostics, we will discuss an initial treatment plan. If advanced diagnostics are necessary, our  veterinary specialist will explain those recommendations to you.

In a Dermatology examination, part of the basic diagnostics is taking cytology samples from your pet. In an Internal Medicine Consultation, part of basic diagnostics is taking your pet’s blood pressure. Learn more about PetDerm’s services and FAQs.
