Cardiology Consultation
The goal of a cardiology consultation is to provide clarity and direction, whether that means confirming a diagnosis, ruling out serious disease, or developing a personalized care plan. We aim to provide a clearer understanding of your pet’s heart health and a plan that fits both their medical needs and your family’s reality.
During your pet’s cardiology visit, our team begins with a physical examination to assess overall heart health and comfort. We listen for heart murmurs, evaluate circulation, and look for any signs that heart disease may be affecting your pet’s well-being.
When appropriate, we may recommend additional diagnostic testing to better understand your pet’s heart function or rule out underlying conditions. Diagnostic tests are selected based on your pet’s individual clinical signs, and can include echocardiogram, ECG, or Holter monitoring.
Our cardiology team evaluates and manages a wide range of heart conditions, including:
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Cardiac neoplasia
- Pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade
- Infectious endocarditis
- Cardiogenic thromboembolic disease
- Arrhythmias, including fast and slow heart rhythm disorders
- Systemic hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Congenital heart defects
- Cardiomyopathies
- Degenerative (myxomatous) valve disease
