Welcome to PetDerm, Calgary’s first independently owned and operated outpatient specialty veterinary clinic. Founded by Dr. Becky Valentine, DVM, DACVD©, PetDerm began as a dermatology-focused clinic and has since expanded its offerings to include small animal internal medicine, cardiology, radiology, and outpatient surgical services. These services are open to all referrals — your pet does not need to be a current PetDerm dermatology patient to be seen.

At PetDerm, you’re supported by a collaborative specialist team. By combining clinical insights from dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and radiology, we create a holistic understanding of your pet’s health. This collaborative approach enables us to identify the most effective diagnostics and develop a coordinated care plan that is thoughtfully tailored to the needs of both your pet and your family.

Took my lab in after 8 long months of a persistent ear infection that our regular vet struggled to find a successful treatment for. 24 hours on the right medication and the infection was visibly deminishing. 3 days later and we are amazed. From the very first visit, I was impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and the calm, thoughtful way she explained everything. She took the time to carefully examine Lucky and answer all of my questions, which made me feel very comfortable and confident in the process. Dr. Valentine was incredibly attentive and reassuring, and I truly appreciated how clearly she explained the situation and what steps we should take. She also kindly complimented the care routine I have been doing for Lucky’s alopecia, which meant a lot to me. Thanks to the positive experience we had, I recommended Dr. Valentine to a friend whose dog had been struggling for about a month without a clear diagnosis and had gone through many expensive and unnecessary tests elsewhere. During the very first visit, Dr. Valentine suggested the diagnosis, and after the necessary tests the next day it was confirmed and the dog finally received the correct treatment. This clinic is so great, we were referred here as our cat has pododermatitis and kidney disease and both Dr Valentine and Dr McMillan are wonderful, they are so kind and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to save our kitty who was in a pretty bad shape before our initial visit. The vet assistants are also super nice and gentle. Also the exam rooms are big and adapted to the pet (cat tree, water bowl) which is great when you have a stressed kitty.
