Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram, also called a cardiac ultrasound, is an imaging test that allows us to view the heart in real-time. It provides a detailed picture of heart structure, motion, and function that cannot be seen on X‑rays or ECG alone.

This test assesses the size of the heart chambers, valve function, and the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively. When this test is combined with a comprehensive cardiac history and other relevant tests, it can provide a more comprehensive picture of your pet’s diagnosis and inform an appropriate treatment plan.

Echocardiograms are performed in the clinic with each new consultation and are generally very well tolerated. Throughout the process, we prioritize your pet’s comfort and take time to explain the findings in simple, clear terms, so you can feel confident in the care decisions made for your pet.

How to book this service?

We are now accepting referrals for Cardiology. You do not need to be a current patient of PetDerm to access Cardiology services. We do require a referral from your family veterinarian. Simply ask your veterinarian to complete our online referral form. Once it’s submitted, a member of the PetDerm team will reach out to guide you through the next steps.

If your pet is an existing patient or has a confirmed consultation with Dr. Lyndsay Kong, please fill out the Patient Transfer Request form and a PetDerm team member will reach out to you for the next steps.
